making progress

My new afghan is getting so big! I decided to use a robin egg blue to frame and connect each square. We are in the process of redoing our living room (painting, trimwork, new carpet, etc.) and this afghan will be living on our couch during the spring and summer. It is the perfect shade of aqua, and it coordinates perfectly with the three blue mason jars on the mantel. It also coordintes with the pottery by Catherine Reece (catherinereece.etsy.com) perfectly. I am hoping to buy a couple of her pieces to put on the mantel.... I just can't decide which ones! Here are a couple pieces that I love:

Do any of you own her pottery?

spoiled.

Finley is three weeks tomorrow, and so far she is totally spoiling us. She is our first baby that sleeps! Our two boys loved to sleep all day and party all night (which isn't so bad when you have only one child and you can sleep during the day, but it quickly becomes a problem when there are two kids!). Finley generally goes to bed with us at 10 or 10:30 and wakes up once or twice during the night to eat. Her big brothers didn't do that until they were a few months old! I think I'm actually getting more sleep now than during the last couple months of my pregnancy. We are praying that this continues. :)

These pictures were taken during her second week. I just love the close up of her hands and feet.
I've been spending quite a bit of time crocheting since Finley came home. We don't have any cable in our house (just movies for us), so Granny squares are the perfect thing to make during all those hours spent on the couch holding the baby. Here are a some pretty shots of the squares I made yesterday and today. The afghan is almost finished, so these are just a little sneak peek.

She's here!

Finley Grace was born Friday, July 9th. We have had a wonderful first week at home with her, and we are all totally smitten.
